I would like to sincerely apologise for the unacceptable delays experienced by our customers on the Geelong line last night.
The fault was caused by a power cabling issue that affected signalling. This stopped all trains between Little River and North Shore stranding some trains between stations.
We are investigating the issue that caused the fault and reviewing procedures to ensure delays are minimised in the future.
Customers affected can apply for up to two daily return trips by calling 1800 800 007.
The delay to all passengers was unacceptable and one that we are exceptionally sorry for.
